Hawaiian Flag Day
July 31 is La Hae Hawai'i---Hawaiian Flag Day. The day was originally La Ho'i, Ho'i Ea---Restoration Day---to comemmorate July 31 of 1843, the day Great Britain recognized the sovereignty of the native rulers. In 1990 Governor John Waihe'e proclaimed July 31 to be La Hae Hawai'i, a day to reflect on the history and aloha of the islands of Hawai'i and its people. So if you have a Hawai'ian flag, today is the day to fly it.
